With the temperatures starting to drop, many have preparations for travelling as the holidays draw closer. However, one of the common concerns about traveling around, whether through car or airplane, factors in our usual exercise routine. Because lets face it, not many hotels provide a lot of exercise resources outside of traditional cardio options. Therefore, why not bring some of that exercise equipment on your travels?

I know what you might be thinking: Why would I want to tug a tremendous amount of weights and equipment that will drastically out-weigh my other personal luggage? Well, good thing is, there’s exercise equipment that you can bring with you that barely weighs anything! Listed below are several suggestions for exercise equipment that are easy to pack, light in baggage weight and highly cost-efficient!

Yoga Mat: A lot of travelers refresh their minds and body by incorporating yoga into their routine and make yoga part of their travels. Yoga can easily be that physical activity to stick to when traveling. If not, this is definitely the right piece to invest in.

Resistance Bands: They’re small and light, meaning you can pack them in your carry-on and take them with you on the road. Whether you are in a hotel room, on a long-haul flight, or even preparing for a competitive event, resistance bands are the perfect companion to help you keep fit throughout the travel.

Miniature Bands: Not to be confused with the other set of resistance bands with the hand grips attached, the mini bands can be a part of your next travel. Mini bands are portable, and highly versatile in providing benefits to muscular strength, mobility and stability. Each band is highly durable as they are made to last and maintain their elasticity after years of use.

Sliders: While these are commonly used to help move heavy furniture around your house, sliders can also be effectively utilized as an exercise tool for incorporating a slight challenge to lower-body movements that could improve core strength, balance and postural stability. Placing a slider on your heel and performing lateral (side) lunges in front of a sturdy chair or countertop is a prime example of balance-related exercises you may include into your travel routine. 

Lacrosse Ball:  Lacrosse balls have surfaced as an important tool in any gym setting due to its tremendous benefits of providing self-myofascial release therapy. Unlike tennis balls, lacrosse balls are hard and dense. They don’t soften under pressure. Lacrosse balls can be used as a powerful massage device that can help relieve pain and improve function in sore muscles.
